After months and months of planning, the time has finally come... I've begun my Dream Trip Around the World and the first region I am visiting is South America!!! The first stop I am making in South America is St. John's, Antigua. My flight departed from Toronto Pearson International at 10:10 am and almost 5 hours later, i arrived here in St. John's around 3:00 in the afternoon (thank God there is no time difference between here and Toronto, I did not want to deal with jet lag!). The flight was wonderful, as it always is with Air Canada, and it cost $524 for the nonstop one-way ticket that took me the 3,390 km from Toronto to St. John's. I arrived only three days ago but I have already fallen in love with the place! I am staying at the beautiful and luxurious Hermitage Bay 5 star Resort in a beachfront suite that is honestly remarkable (which is probably why it is costing me $1,065 a night.... I really splurged on this one). I'll post a few pictures of the resort so you can all gaze in awe:

Muahahaha, you know you're jealous.
But anyway, the resort is immaculate, the food is great, the employees are very friendly, the beach has the softest white sand i've ever seen and water as clear as saran wrap! The second day of my stay all I did was lounge on the beach and take in the warmth of the sun. Yesterday, I went to Harmony Hall which is an art gallery featuring the work of many Caribbean Artists. The artworks were beautiful and full of the island flavour, and the view was lovely as well. After Harmony Hall I visited Fort Barrington, the British fort built in 1779 on the shoreline of St. John's to protect the British Island from the French. It was very ominous looking as well as very old looking, but it was quite an interesting site and the view of the sunset from the top of the Fort was to die for! Here are a few pictures from my day today:

Today is June 4th and I will be departing from the tranquil city of St. John's on june 6th, which is both saddening and extremely exciting at the same time! I'm not sure what I'll do in my last days here, but i'm sure that whatever i do will be enjoyable, maybe a boat tour or excursion, or just lounging around the resort, either option is good with me! I'll catch up with you all in my next post when I will have arrived in Trinidad and Tobago woohoo!!!
