After the longest ordeal of my life, I have finally arrived at my first stop in the Oceania region, Nadi, Fiji!!! It was very difficult travelling from Guyana to Fiji, but where there's a will there's a way, and let me tell you, I found a way. It was a very complicated trip but I survived. I'll break it down for you guys, because it really was a lot.... So, my first flight with Caribbean Airlines left Georgetown, Guyana at 6:00 am on June 17th and flew for 1 hour and 10 mins to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago where I arrived at 7:10 am. I had a 1 hour and 45 min layover there and then departed at 8:55 am and flew for 5 hours and 10 mins to New York where I arrived at 2:00 pm (again with Caribbean Airlines). After a 5 hour layover in New York, I departed for Las Vegas at 7:15 pm and arrived there at 10:11 pm (a 5 hour and 56 min flight) with Delta Airlines. I had another long layover in Las Vegas, almost 4 hours! Ugh, it was the worst! I then departed Las Vegas at 1:55 am and arrived in Honolulu at 5:00 am, the flight was 6 hours and 5 mins and the airplane was my favourite one yet (thumbs up to Hawaiian Airlines). I had a 7 hour layover in Honolulu and then I hopped on my next flight with American Airlines at 12:00 pm, to fly to Kiritimati. The flight was 3 hours and 15 mins and I arrived at Kiritimati at 3:15 pm. After a 1 hour layover there, I finally got on my last plane, again with American Airlines, at 4:15 pm to fly to Nadi, Fiji, where I arrived 5 hours and 20 mins later at 7:35 pm. So at 7:35 pm on June 18th I arrived in Fiji. It was really trippy because since Fiji is 16 hours ahead of us the time was so confusing and... I don't even know how to explain it! It sounds like a lot just reading it, but you have no idea..... The total trip time to get from Georgetown, Guyana to Nadi, Fiji was 45 hours and 35 mins, the total distance in kilometers was 13,892.8 and the total cost was $4,016.00 Canadian. You have no idea how RELIEVED I am to finally be here. Here are some pics I took on the journey here:

So after that dreadfully long, two-day long voyage, it feels so nice to be here in Nadi!! I am staying at the Sheraton Fiji Resort in Nadi in an Ocean Breeze room for $259 per night. The resort is very beautiful and it's so big!! I have everything I could possibly need in the resort area and its all inclusive!! After all the effort it took to get here, I think I will most likely spend my time lounging around the pool and trying to work on my tan. I may try an excursion or two if I hear about any that sound really interesting. But to be honest; i'm pretty tuckered out. At my previous stop, Georgetown, Guyana, I really did a lot of activities and tours and it was full of adventure... and then there was that 45 hour trip to get here... and i'm just tired!!! This resort is absolutely beautiful though, and I really just want to relax and take in the beautiful weather here in Fiji. Yesterday, June 19th, was my first full day here and i was so jet-lagged and exhausted, so I spent the day re-fueling by laying on the beach with a cold drink in my hand. It was heavenly!!! Today, I will probably do the same thing and just relax outside and take in the sunshine... Life is sa-weeeeet! Here are some pics of the resort and beach and whatnot:

By the way, the coolest thing I have experienced so far in Fiji (food-wise) is a Lovo!! Lovo is a Fijian delicacy prepared for communal events such as a weddings and festivals. A makeshift underground oven is fashioned by digging a hole into the ground and lining it with coconut husks, which are then lit on fire and covered by stones. Meats, fish and vegetables wrapped in banana leaves are then placed on top of the heated stones and cooked for about two and a half hours. Most large resorts in Fiji have a Lovo night once a week, and lucky for me, my resort does!! The Lovo was so interesting and the food tasted delicious!! Here's some pics of Lovo night and the food:

So, if you ever come to Fiji, you have got to experience a traditional Lovo!! Anyways, i'm gonna go enjoy my time here in Nadi, I shall catch up with you all at my next stop: New Zealand!! Woohoo peace out everyone!!
